Welcome to
Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Church Rivonia

Rev Fr. Paul Beukes OMI
Parish Priest

Palm Sunday, Year A
The crowds preceding him and those following kept crying out and saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.” Matthew 21:19
Palm Sunday marks Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, a moment celebrated with palms and joyful songs. It signifies the fulfillment of God’s promises, the arrival of the Messiah, and the hope Christ brings into our lives. This day reminds believers to welcome Jesus into their hearts with humility, gratitude, and devotion. Reflecting on Palm Sunday helps us embrace God’s plan even when it includes challenges or sacrifices. By contemplating Christ’s example, we learn to live faithfully, serve others, and follow Him daily, acknowledging His sovereignty over our lives and the blessings

Most Holy Week
Palm Sunday
We begin Holy Week with Palm Sunday, commemorating Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The crowds welcomed Him with palms and shouts of praise, yet the same week would lead to His Passion.
Holy Thursday
Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the Sacred Triduum. On this day, we remember the last Supper, where Jesus gave us the gift of the Eucharist and the priesthood. In a powerful act of humility, He washed the feet of His disciples, teaching us the meaning of love and service.
Good Friday
Good Friday is a solemn day when we remember the Passion and death of Jesus on the Cross. It is a day of silence, prayer, and reflection on the depth of God’s love for us. As we venerate the Cross, we are reminded that through His suffering, Christ brings us salvation and hope.
Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday is a day of quiet waiting. The church stands at the tomb of Christ, reflecting on His death and awaiting the joy of the Resurrection. It is a time of stillness and hope, preparing our hearts for the celebration of Easter. In the Easter Vigil, we move from darkness into light, proclaiming that Christ is risen.
